Birdland

Un spectacle électro-Jazz imagé / A pictorial electro-Jazz show

Thierry Beaucoup, Marc Wolff and Pascal Caparros propose a musical and visual discourse where orality rubs shoulders with writing.

Traditional instruments, the sounds of nature and our environment are mixed with digital processing, serving an original music.

On the occasion of the exhibition « The rare bird, from the swallow to the kakapo », the three artists have created a new repertoire around these cosmopolitan creatures, which have always been a source of inspiration for the arts and sciences.

Drawing on the Musée des Confluences’ collections of recordings and traditional musical instruments from different cultures, BIRDLAND proposes a musical and visual universe in chromatodepth, linked to the songs, territories and ways of life of birds.

What is chromatodepth?

Any 2D visual element in colour can be transformed into 3D as long as the colour spectrum is used with the foreground in red and the background in blue. From front to back, the scheme follows the visible light of the spectrum: from red to orange to yellow to green to blue. This means that every colour is fixedly associated with a certain depth when viewed. Therefore colour indicates depth.
